The Sled Hockey Foundation (SHF) conducted another terrific Just Try It event at Cornerstone Arena on Sunday, March 3rd with nearly two dozen people taking to the ice. People young and old strapped into a sled hockey sled and met the challenge of this great adaptive sport.
Adam Page, born with spina bifida, a three-time U.S. Paralympic sled hockey gold medalist, and founder of The Sled Hockey Foundation (SHF), skated with everyone and offered tips on playing the sport.
“It’s good to see families taking the time to come out and try this sport, especially those coming with family members with disabilities,” said Adam. He added, “Some of these kids have been to other Just Try It events and are now playing on sled hockey teams in the area. That’s part of the Sled Hockey Foundation’s mission – getting people into the sport to gain the benefits of being active – and having fun!”
The SHF is happy to be growing its presence in Lockport in association with the great people at Cornerstone Arena. These free events are made possible, in part, by generous support from the Grigg Lewis Foundation.
People are encouraged to support the important work of the SHF by visiting the website and donating. All contributions support the effort to grow adaptive sport opportunities for people with disabilities.
