The Hampton by Hilton finally opened its doors. Uniland Development Company opened its new $14.4 million, 107-room Hampton by Hilton hotel, the first in North America certified in Universal Design. This is the first hotel in the country to achieve isUD certification, a program that aims to create and acknowledge inclusive buildings. Kellena Kane, Uniland Director of Development, shared her thoughts on the project. “As the first hotel in the country to embrace Universal Design, our new Hampton by Hilton at the Northtown Center will offer guests the best experience possible.” As for the design process, more than a handful of universal design features were incorporated. This was made possible with the help of the IDEA Center. Some of the features include large turning radiuses, wider hallways for easy passing, and illuminated room signage.
