The 1st Annual GBAS/MassMutual State of New York 2019 Corporate Challenge was held on Saturday, October 26th on the Feature Rink at Northtown Center. Over 25 participants took to the ice to compete in spirited games of sled hockey, with Adam Page, 3-time Paralympic sled hockey gold medalist with Team USA, participating and offering a reminder of why he is one of the best in the world.
With MassMutual State of New York’s Gold Medal Event Presenting sponsorship, and the Bronze Medal Refreshments sponsorship from Brown Chiari, the Corporate Challenge event raised over $15,000 in donations for GBAS. This generosity will be invested in equipment and events that expand sport and recreational opportunities for people with disabilities throughout Western New York. Additionally, it is expected that this event concept will be repeated and become a regional showcase for corporate caring and an ongoing partnership between GBAS and MassMutual New York State.
“It is important to contribute to making our community better and supporting Greater Buffalo Adaptive Sports is a great way to do that,” stated Joe DiLeo, adding, “MassMutual New York State is proud to help change people’s lives throughout Western New York with Adam Page and everyone at GBAS.”
Greater Buffalo Adaptive Sports (GBAS) and MassMutual New York State enjoy a relationship aimed at benefiting people with disabilities in Western New York. This partnership was galvanized when Joe DiLeo, CEO of MassMutual New York State, served as the Event Presenting Sponsor for the 2018 Gala Dinner and ensured a matching donation from MassMutual. This significant financial contribution was critically important to the work of GBAS (formerly The Sled Hockey Foundation) in 2018 and 2019.
