Join us for a memorable and inspiring evening and hear the grassroots to gold medal stories of regional sled hockey athletes as The Sled Hockey Foundation Gala celebrates the achievements, inspiration, and leadership within the sled hockey community. Guests will enjoy an evening of dinner, dancing, and celebration as we look toward building our community for years to come.
Sports have real value in people’s lives, but can prove critically important in the life of a person with a disability, yielding invaluable positive results on the physical and emotional well-being of participants and their families. Yet, the pursuit of an adaptive sport is still difficult, if not impossible, for many. The lack of access to a nearby team and the high cost of equipment continue to present real barriers for potential and existing regional sled hockey athletes.
The Sled Hockey Foundation makes the seemingly impossible possible for disabled athletes by providing resources to grow the sport – so that everyone can play. We offer free Just Try It events to raise awareness and encourage people to experience the sport, are building new sled hockey programs in WNY so that more youth and adults with disabilities can play, establishing a regional sled hockey equipment lending program, and provide ongoing support to already existing WNY teams and programs.
Join us at our 2017 Gala and help us empower disabled athletes through the sport of sled hockey!
